The experience feels authentic.
Paintings of people dancing on the walls are beautiful. The table arrangement and the service feel old-fashioned thus nostalgic.
5 classes of set menus are available including vegetarian version for each.
There was one same staff attending us and checking how we liked it through the meal.
He talked with us in detail and gave us good recommandation based on our preference. That is very helpful to us whole are not so familiar with Indian cuisine.
In general, it is outstanding with food presentation and service among Indian restaurants, which makes it a good choice for people want to try Indian food. But it still has way to go to achieve an inpressive taste, and a really fine experience.
Easily located lovely black and white house along Scotts Road. Was here for the Sunday brunch buffet with friends for the first time. There was a private event happening on the grounds, so I was expecting the staff to be pretty busy that day. The restaurant manager was in a pleasant mood and showed us to our table. The service staff were attentive enough to make sure our glasses were full and clear off the used plates. The spread of food for the brunch wasn't exactly expansive but definitely it was more refined to what I am used to in other famed restaurants or eateries. The manager was nice enough to come round our table to check if we had an enjoyable meal. This might just be a brunch service but overall I was truly expecting more out from a Michelin restaurant.
Nice ambience, good Indian food. Servers are very helpful and gave great recommendations. Star of the dinner was sarson wali Cod (Cod fish marinated with mustard paste). We tried a lamb dish cooked in ginger gravy which was also very tasty. Overall a big thumbs up to this Michelin Star studded restaurant.
the foot was okay, service was very good as well, but you can still taste the Chinese flavor in the indian dishes, I don't know why, but maybe it depends on the customers taste in this part of the world ... overall it is a good restaurant
Impeccable service by Naveen. It was our first time here and we had all the food recommended by him - from starters to dessert. Every single dish was spot on. We wanted to order flavored rice with our curries but Naveen suggested a simpler alternative that would bring out the flavour of the curries best. So we had the simple white rice which was really fragrant! We wanted to try something different from the more known "butter chicken" so we had chicken lazeez instead! It was really good! The Begal prawn curry was hands down the best tasting curries ever! Truffle mushroom nann we had was so much better than all the truffle pizzas we ever had before! I will definitely be back for more!
This is a nice restaurant and I'd love to give it 5 stars but can't quite. The food is all excellent and very interesting. We enjoyed each course of the Degustation menu. The service is very attentive, though there can be disconnects (we asked for the "after-dinner drinks menu" and they didn't understand, just to name one issue). The real downfall is the wine. We asked for the wine pairings, and it was just three glasses, each from their by-the-glass list (as opposed to a tasting serve with each course). And the wines on that list are fairly mediocre. How can a Michelin-starred restaurant have such bad wine? They also do the smallest pours of spirits in cocktails I've seen in a while. When they brought out the cognac it barely had anything in it. Also, the entrance has stairs and they don't have an alternative, so if you have strollers, wheelchairs etc you will have to carry them up stairs. And the price is pretty high for what you get. Again, a lot to enjoy here and it can be a special evening, but expect to pay a lot too, don't expect good wine, and make sure you can navigate stairs.
Lets start with giving it due credit for the ambience and staff worthy of a Michelin Star restaurant. The staff is professional, polite, accommodating, they explain you in great details every cuisine served infront of you.
We were not willing to be very explorative so went for the course meals, and the quantity is justifiably good. It fills you up. However, in the curries, I couldn't find that succinct flavor I was looking for. Some of the curries did have a unique punch lurking around in the background, but I guess the quantity is too less for one to actually enjoy or feel it. Maybe they should consider serving more of a curry and reducing the number of items from Sets.
Overall, an expensive meal for an experience worth it, not quite the flavor wise a winner.
I don't quite understand how this place was highly rated. It's probably overblown by its Michelin status. Food was OK, but it's so easy to find comparably good or better Indian cuisine elsewhere in Singapore. Song ot India wins by its fine-dining ambience. A good place for conversation or a chill out place to pair with wine (the wine list is quite good). Staff service was quite good as the waiters were courteous and took the effort to explain the dishes. Be prepared to have big hole in your pocket.
